Is the curriculum all online?
Your experience in the University of the Heart will consist of individual study, attendance of weekly classes held via web-conference, and a collection of in-person group intensives (retreats or residencies). Interaction with your teachers and your classmates occurs in person through our online web-learning management system called "The Dome" and over web-conference. This constellation of learning is unique: you make lasting friendships of support and camaraderie from wherever you are in the world. We aim for the right blend of online coursework, allowing flexibility and remote study, along with the first-hand, person-to-person training that is necessary to communicate the experience of heart-centered meditation.
DOES THE iamU PREPARE YOU FOR A CAREER? DO YOU GET TRAINING TO TEACH MEDITATION?
The University of the Heart will not train you for a specific career, but it will accelerate any career you choose.
The skills you acquire from the University will give you a deep understanding of your unique qualities, who you are, the purpose of your life, and a profound appreciation for the unique qualities of others.
This understanding will make you more focused, cooperative, inspired, and fearless. You can save decades by knowing what your life is about and how to progress consciously.
As an iamU graduate, you will be qualified as an Instructor in the practice of Heart Rhythm Meditation. For those who would like to teach meditation at an even deeper level, we offer the option to receive training to be an official iamHeart Teacher.
WHY SHOULD I STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY of the HEART?
This course of study will help you start a business, be a better employee, work harmoniously with others, and accomplish your heart's wish. The key to all that you desire is beating within your chest.
The University of the Heart will awaken your ideal, and give you the strength to pursue it. Every great person has been motivated by an ideal; nothing is as compelling as a vision of greatness, and the power it gives you is tremendous.
Our program will teach you a powerful method of understanding and transforming energy, which you can use to change your own state — your mood, your attitude, the way your body feels and functions — or to influence the wider world.
You will learn to invoke in your heart the greatest human qualities: unending love, unbreakable faith, unbelievable courage, undying hope, and infinite peace. You will become aware of a current of spiritual intelligence running through life that directs the flow of change toward life’s greatest growth, and learn to work in ways that strengthen that spiritual current.
IS THE UNIVERSITY of the HEART ACCREDITED?
No, the accreditation process requires several years. We are committed to becoming accredited.
CAN YOU STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY of the HEART IF YOU HAVE A FULL-TIME JOB AND A FAMILY?
We have structured our curriculum to blend distance learning with face-to-face instruction and retreats, so that busy working professionals can structure their time to be able to complete the University of the Heart program.
The time commitment for the program is similar to other distance-based degree programs. See the Webcourses Page for more on how our online classes work, and the Catalog Page for a more detailed estimate of time for each part of the curriculum.
WHAT KINDS OF PEOPLE STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY of the HEART?
Our students include medical doctors, teachers, therapists, and many other professionals.
We have people who are new to iamHeart, and people who have studied with us for years – ranging in age from early twenties to late sixties. What draws each iamU Class together is the focus on the experience of the heart, in the form of sensation, images, thoughts and emotions, to which everyone can relate.
You will get the chance to meet your classmates at the Embarkation as well as the students in the classes before yours, who will be finishing their Residency Intensive [Catalog Page]. You’ll also have a chance to meet alumni and other members of the IAM Heart community at the Group Retreats.
